I'm Sam Strong, a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) in Seattle dedicated to helping individuals navigate life's most challenging moments. I believe that everyone has an innate capacity for healing — sometimes we just need the right support to access it.

My approach is grounded in warmth, curiosity, and evidence-based practices. I specialize in trauma recovery using EMDR and draw on Internal Family Systems (IFS) principles, offering a safe and nonjudgmental space where you can explore your inner world and build lasting resilience.

Individual Therapy

EMDR Therapy

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing helps you process difficult memories and experiences, reducing their emotional charge and helping you move forward with clarity. EMDR is highly effective for trauma, PTSD, anxiety, phobias, and grief.

IFS-Informed Therapy

Drawing on Internal Family Systems, this gentle approach helps you understand and harmonize the different parts of yourself, fostering inner compassion and self-leadership. IFS-informed work is effective for trauma, anxiety, depression, and relationship patterns.

Our first session is all about getting to know each other. I'll ask about your background, what's bringing you to therapy, and what you're hoping to get out of our work together. There's no pressure to share more than you're comfortable with — we'll move at your pace. By the end, we'll start shaping a plan tailored to your goals.

The length of therapy varies based on your unique needs and goals. Some people find meaningful progress in a few months, while others benefit from longer-term work. We'll regularly check in on your progress and adjust our approach together. Sessions are typically 50 minutes, held weekly or biweekly.

Yes! I offer secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth sessions for clients throughout Washington State. Virtual therapy provides the same quality of care from the comfort of your own space. Many clients find it more convenient and just as effective as in-person sessions.

I'd be happy to discuss fees and insurance during our consultation call. I believe quality therapy should be accessible, and I offer a limited number of sliding-scale spots. I can also provide superbills for out-of-network reimbursement if applicable.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy that helps your brain process and integrate difficult memories. It's widely recommended for trauma and PTSD, but it's also effective for anxiety, phobias, and grief. During our consultation, we can discuss whether EMDR might be a good fit for your situation.
