A river winding through a misty evergreen valley in the Pacific Northwest

Healing begins with being truly heard

I'm Sam Strong, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate (LMHCA) in Seattle dedicated to helping individuals navigate life's most challenging moments, explore their inner world with curiosity, and build a higher quality of life that feels authentically their own.

My approach is grounded in warmth, curiosity, and evidence-informed practices. I specialize in working with anxiety, self-esteem, and individuals who are ready to make meaningful changes in their lives. Drawing on Internal Family Systems (IFS) principles, I offer a safe and nonjudgmental space where you can better understand yourself and build lasting resilience. I am trauma-informed and actively integrate that lens into all aspects of my clinical work, recognizing that our past experiences shape the way we move through the world.

Inspired by the Pacific Northwest's natural beauty, I believe in the restorative power of connection, both with ourselves and the world around us.

What I help with

You don't need to have it all figured out before reaching out. Here are some of the areas I work with most often.

Anxiety & Stress

Persistent worry, racing thoughts, or a constant sense of overwhelm that makes it hard to feel at ease.

Trauma

Difficult past experiences that continue to affect your present.

Depression

Low mood, loss of motivation, or feeling disconnected from the things and people that once brought you joy.

Life Transitions

Navigating change: career shifts, relocation, relationship changes, or stepping into a new chapter of life.

Grief & Loss

Processing the pain of losing someone or something important, and finding a way to carry that love forward.

Self-Worth & Identity

Rebuilding confidence, understanding who you are, and learning to treat yourself with the same compassion you give others.

Relationship Issues

Recurring conflict, communication struggles, or patterns that leave you feeling disconnected, and learning to build healthier, more secure connections.

How I can help

No two people come to therapy for the same reasons. I draw on evidence-informed approaches and shape the work around what you actually need.

Individual Therapy

A supportive space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and patterns. Together we'll work toward greater self-understanding, emotional balance, and personal growth, whether you're navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, or simply seeking deeper self-awareness.

IFS-Informed Therapy

Drawing on Internal Family Systems, this gentle approach helps you understand and harmonize the different parts of yourself, fostering inner compassion and self-leadership. IFS-informed work is effective for trauma, anxiety, depression, and relationship patterns.

EMDR Therapy Training in Progress

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is a structured, evidence-informed approach for gently processing difficult experiences. I'm completing EMDRIA-approved training now and am beginning to bring EMDR-informed techniques into my work.

A note on EMDR. I'm currently completing EMDR Basic Training through an EMDRIA-approved program, with Part 2 scheduled for late 2026; full certification will follow. If EMDR is something you're curious about, we can begin working together now, building safety, exploring your history, and developing our relationship, so that when the time comes to move into EMDR processing, you're well-prepared and supported every step of the way.

You've carried it this long. You don't have to carry it alone.
